So weather looks awful tomorrow - can anyone give ideas of what we can do with the day? Thank you

Robert burns cottage. Heads of Ayr farm park if it is open is really good. If you have transport Kelburn park is also worth a trip. Loads of beaches around that area too - Troon, Irvine.

If you can get to Glasgow they have the science museum and the transport museum (as well as everything else!)

Sorry - missed the awful weather bit, ignore all the outdoor stuff 😂😂

Feralkidsatthecampsite · 03/08/2020 21:47

The farm park is still great even in the rain!!

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 03/08/2020 23:43

Heads of Ayr booked out till next week and the museums in Glasgow arent open.

To be honest, I'd just suck it up and go with the weather. Culzean castle is a nice day out. You could hop on the train to Largs (mostly stoney beach) or Troon (sandy).

Take a trip over to Millport on the ferry from Largs. Hire bikes (or take your own if you have them.)

It's tricky with so many places still closed.
I'd be tempted to have an indoors day inside your holiday place.
or a drive up the coast to largs can go via pretwick to look a the airport and plane spot, ice cream at largs and back via the farlie moor road

Thanks for the replies. We've already been to Culzean castle and had a couple of beach walks. Couldn't get a place on the ferry to Arran- that was our plan- and had already planned to go to prestwick later so glad ours worth it. Thank you.

Dumfries House worth a look? If you have dc, there's a fun playground with kind of engineering water play. Obv all outside, but quite distracting.

thereplycamefromanchorage · 04/08/2020 11:18

Assuming the playground is open - probably worth a check before going.

FelicityPike · 04/08/2020 11:25

Dumfries House....but I wouldn’t go today or tomorrow (yesterday it was great, sorry). Mabie farm park in Dumfries is great if open/available. Cream o’ Galloway too if open. But they’re both a wee distance away.
Woody’s ice cream shop in Mauchline is great for a treat.
Sadly all the places I would’ve recommended like Kidzplay/ Pirate Pete’s/ Gemmell’s soft play are shut.

It’s open...we had to strip my DD before she got into to the car yesterday, good job we took a change of clothes!
NCTDN · 04/08/2020 22:38

We had a bracing walk!!
Can you help as you are all so knowledgeable? Going into Glasgow and thinking park and ride from shields road. It says it is £5.70 but is that for the car and all passengers or per person?

Is the Patna steam train running? My grandchildren love that

Sadly not. Closed the rest of the year due to Corona. Might not even make it back next year.
Dontknowwhybut · 04/08/2020 23:49

I would just get the train from Ayr or Prestwick, rather than park and ride.

So would I.
expectingno2soon · 05/08/2020 20:45

I'd just get the train. There isn't really anything open in Glasgow though except for shops, bars, restaurants.
No museums or libraries are open and no other indoor children's things.
