Moving to Perth

Hi all,
DH and I are hoping to relocate to Perth! Rightmove is full of gorgeous houses but we have two young children so choosing an area with a good nursery and primary school is top of our priority list. Can anyone local give any recommendations as to where we should be looking? Also any general thoughts about life in Perth? Many thanks!

You're spoilt for choice and it depends on what you want

There are lots of lovely villages around, like Bridge of Earn, Luncarty

Scone too, where I used to live.

In Perth itself Craigie and Kinnoull areas are nice. Oakbank and Burghmuir too

I would avoid Letham, Tullloch, North Muirton. That's my choice though, through living nearby

Perth is a great city, good choice! I agree with the PP re. areas in Perth to avoid and I've also heard good things about the primary schools in Craigie, Kinnoull and Oakbank (we're actually moving to Oakbank this autumn).

Are you looking to move into the city or a nearby town/village? I personally think Abernethy is lovely, Luncarty and Stanley as well, and Scone would also be a good choice. Also depends if you'll have to commute, Oakbank has pretty decent motorway access as it's close to Broxden roundabout as does Bridge of Earn whereas Scone might be less practical for a commuter as Dundee road tends to get pretty clogged up.

So yeah feel free to PM me with any questions or post on here :)

Thanks both!

Husband would be working near Scone but not sure where I would be looking yet! We are used to village life but I did wonder whether Perth itself might be a bit more reliable in terms of childcare and before/after school club provision?

Feel free to ask for views on houses you've found

Scone is lovely. RDM (thenlocal school) is very big though but had an after school club which I think is still going

If you buy in Perth, your DH's commute will be against the flow of traffic so shouldn't be too much of an issue
