Over-70s shielding advice here

What is the advice in Scotland for over-70s at the moment? My DF is 73 but healthy, and is still refusing to leave the house even for walks. Don't think this is necessary at this stage, is it? He gets shopping deliveries and I help out too, but I'm worried he's getting a bit institutionalised being at home and that his legs won't work whenever he tries a walk outside again!

PS I have googled to try and find out, not just being lazy(!), but there is so much conflicting advice and I'm never sure whether the webpage I'm looking at is the most up-to-date etc - just hoping somebody here might know off the top of their head! Thanks.

My dad is over 70 but had a shielding letter at the start of lockdown. So he's still to shield until the end of July.

Not sure about others as my in laws are over 70 and refused to shield or listen to any advice.

The guidelines said a few weeks ago that walks are now advised.
And I think it's all been relaxed even further in the past week.

Is your father actually in the shielding category ie had the NHS shielding letter stating he is clinically extremely vulnerable? If so then the above advice applies. If he has not had a shielding letter but is categorized as clinically vulnerable due to being over 70 then the shielding restrictions do not apply. He can do what other people are doing subject to the caveat that he should take every care to maintain physical distancing etc. A walk in the fresh air in a quiet area would do him good. He can see his grandchildren if he has any under 12 without physical distancing etc. Would he manage a coffee in the garden with a friend?

Thanks all, that's really helpful. I'm not sure, but don't think he ever got a shielding letter (he might have absent-mindedly put it away somewhere). But he's healthy, as I mentioned. I think I'll need to try and coax him out, but he just seems rather scared... :-(
