Private additional needs help

Hi,
We are moving to Scotland and I want to find a couple of private therapists for my kids. We already pay for this weekly where we live and I dont want to go through the NHS because we will lose time when the kids are making good progress.

One of the things Im looking for is a psychomotor therapist - in Scotland this service seems to be performed by Occupational Therapists. I found one private company but they want to charge £600 per kid diagnosis. I already have their accurate reports, I dont need another one - especially at £600. Does anyone have a recommendation please?

I'm also looking for a speach therapist and an orthoptist. I know this sounds like a lot. I would be happy even to be able to start privatly with one therapy for one kid, I just dont want to be waiting and waiting or paying for info I already have.

Even if you dont have a contact, I would appreciate advice on how to find the right people.

Thanks is advance.

Everything (NHS and private) is still pretty much closed down in Scotland because of Coronavirus. General advice would be 'google is your friend' for the actual area you are moving to...I noticed private speech therapists appear if I google for them in my area.
If the optometrist requirement is for something similar to behavioural optometry, then the UK website has a search function for practitioners which includes Scotland: babo.co.uk/find-a-behavioural-optometrist/.
There are only a couple of University courses in Scotland for Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy, so I suppose it is possible University Departments could advise about finding a private therapist. Would a pediatric physiotherapist also work maybe?
Your children's GP/school would also likely have some local knowledge.
Good luck anyway.

have a look via the Royal college of OTs rcotss-ip.org.uk/find
what about this one ? rcotss-ip.org.uk/profile/catherine-morris/

Where are you going to be living? I would always look for a paediatric specialist rather then a generic therapist that also will see children.

Where in Scotland are you moving to? I'm a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist working for NHS Grampian and our request for assistance procedure is easy to access (just call your local SLT and we'll respond within one week). Can't do any face to face appointments just now but can do video consultations, give advice over the phone and send resources as required.

Services vary depending on what NHS board you move to, but I think a lot of NHS SLT departments have moved on from traditional referral systems and lengthy waiting lists etc...

If you look on the ASLTIP website, you can find private SLTs by postcode and also the age ranges that they work with.
