Could have sworn I Heard NS day 5 mile travel restrictions don't apply to meeting up with family but I can't find the details anywhere. Anyone know where this information is hiding because I can't find anything on scotgov website either?

Says

Travelling to meet others outdoors

It is acceptable to travel outside your local area to meet members ofanother household in an outdoor space such as a private garden.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/06/2020 15:20

You did! She's said it a couple of times in briefings. Not sure if explicit in the doc, but the 5 mile limit, last time I looked, is only referred to in relation to exercise and recreation.

dementedpixie · 19/06/2020 15:23

And the 5 miles is just a guide rather than law

Superjaggy · 19/06/2020 17:03

Yes that's right, I heard Jason Leitch on radio Scotland this morning and he said the 5 mile guide doesn't apply to visiting friends and family.

SkyscraperStreets · 19/06/2020 17:17

The 5 mile ‘limit’- ridiculous as it is, is only advisory in any event. It is not legally enforceable.

Brilliant - will be able to visit DMum. Thanks for your help.

OK so driving to meet others (friends and family) is ok.... Can we hug my mum and dad when we meet them outdoors? Granny is missing the weans....
We are planning on driving 50 miles to meet them - half way to their house...
No sign of CV19 with any of us, and they are not strictly shielding, both 70 but no conditions we know of. Should we hold off??
Wwyd? Haven't seen them since Christmas 😢...

gracielooloo · 20/06/2020 09:44

@Twix42, go go go!
That’s what I would do, no hugging outdoors though. Still 2m apart as far as I’m aware.😀

prettybird · 20/06/2020 09:53

No hugging - still 2m apart. But you can now go in to use the loo Wink - provided you don't touch anything else and clean up well after yourself Grin

The other thing you can do is form an "extended household" with a single person household (or single parent with kids under 18), similar to the English "bubble" - and you can hug and even stay overnight. Smile But you must choose which extended household - you can't mix and match.
