Is the early change of academic year (secondary) a Scotland-wide thing?

Or is it localised?
So sick of everything on MN being England-centric. Oh our poor babies doing GCSEs and A-Levels, we must get them back before September!

Our secondary academic year changes tomorrow. I have a child with ASN moving in to 4th year. New subject choices, new stage of the curriculum, no transition. Because of not setting out a new timetable as such, we have no idea if the subjects she is starting will even be possible going forward, or if they might clash with others, etc.

We're in Highland, and are already "moved up" on-line into the new year. It's a month early, but I think it's a good idea, the children were doing nothing at home - since the exams were cancelled, and may as well start on the next year's syllabus, My DD is now in S5 and doing 5 highers.

My dds school usually moves up a year in May. I think this year should have been around the 25th May but we heard the other day that the new timetable starts next week on Monday the 11th.

We had emails from school this week saying that the new S4, S5 and S6 timetables start on Monday. The kids have been sent links to Microsoft teams sessions for each subject, about 2 hours a week per subject.

DD stropped ALL afternoon because some of her sessions start at 9am and my comments of "it's not a holiday you know" went down like a lead balloon.

Dd moved from S3 to S4 last week.
I'm very worried about her exams this year, her school have done well on providing work but it's no comparison to learning in a classroom and if Scottish schools don't return till August and possibly on a reduced basis then they will be massively disadvantaged going into prelims at the end of the year having missed months of learning.

Yes, DD’s school starts on Monday as well - she is in S6 now Shock how did that happen?!?
She is all prepped and signed up on Teams.

DS on the other hand is still at primary, getting a sheet of tasks for the week and it is a daily struggle to get him to concentrate.
