Sainsbury’s deliveries to vulnerable

Hi, I’m trying to register my Dad as vulnerable to get a delivery from Sainsbury’s but I can only see how to do it if you’re in England. Has anyone done it in Scotland?

I'm sure I read something saying you can't register anyone new for their vulnerable service. They'd be using existing data to identify over 70s and other existing customers could advise them of their vulnerability.

How do you do that? Do you have to try to get through to the call centre or email them? Is there any other supermarket who will give priority online slots to the elderly?

Windyone · 27/03/2020 14:16

There’s a link on the website in delivery to register as vulnerable but it takes you to an gov link for England. I can’t see a similar link for Scotland.
I’ve got various online shopping accounts in my name that I use for delivery to my Dad who is 86 and vulnerable but obviously because it’s in my name they’ve not picked it up as someone vulnerable.

We are in the same situation with my mother in law.

Windy would you be able to alter one of your existing accounts and put it in your dad's name?

Sorry this is being so difficult for you

A few Tesco slots came online but I called my dad to ask what else he needed and they went! I don’t do online shopping very often, I’m normally able to visit my dad and take him shopping. I think I’ll just need to sit at my laptop refreshing delivery slots until one pops up!

I had to go and do my dad's shopping (83 but otherwise active and in good health) and pick up a prescription for him, today, as well as do the shopping of his neighbours, who'd been going to do his shopping for him, as they have fallen ill themselves and are self-isolating.

Took a number of my spare plastic bags (usually use jute bags) so that I could leave it for them. As it was, he was outside hanging out washing when I arrived, so I was able to have a chat - at a >2m distance of course Wink

windy, is there anyone nearby that could drop off some shopping for him. I'd gladly do it if he lives in Stirling?

Otherwise there are loads of facebook groups and the like that are helping out. Also if you sign up to the NextDoor app for your Dad's area they have a map showing people who are willing to do what e.g. chat on the phone, get shopping, walk dogs etc.

Windyone, we logged onto my mother-in-law's Sainsbury's account last night and were delighted to see delivery slots. We had not been able to register her, so they must be doing some other kind of checks. (Or it could be that she is in a retirement flat, which should make it obvious that she is going to need extra assistance.) It might be worth another look. Good luck.
