Moving to Perth

Hello

My family and I are thinking about moving to Perth. We have 1 dc (18 months). Looking for a nice area with plenty of things to do for children and good schools. Prefer somewhere that is accessible to motorway etc as we will be commuting to FIfe/Glasgow. We are moving to be nearer to relatives so it kind of has to be around Perth if that makes sense. In terms of house prices we can go up to £270k. Any places to avoid? Does Perth have things to do etc?

Will you be doing a regular commute to Glasgow? It's not something I'd fancy at all & wouldn't want to go much north of Stirling if it was regular.

Hi, I live in Perth and love it - you could definitely get a 3/4 bed detached in your budget. Plenty to do - mum and baby/NCT groups, gyms, a cinema, bars, restaurants etc. I second the previous poster's comment about commuting though - would be a fair trek to get from Perth to Glasgow and back every day, not to mention expensive if doing it by train. Might be worth looking at houses close to Broxden roundabout if commuting by car, Oakland and Craigie seem to be pretty popular areas as well. Feel free to PM with any questions!

Hello thank you @MakeMineALargeProsecco and @Isbutteracarb.
Im sorry I have not replied. I have had a stressful week. Yes the Glasgow commute would be a regular thing - driving, I get a fuel allowance and my commute at the moment is 45 mins so its going to be longer but not by loads. We like the look of oakbank and the area around broxden roundabout, I don't know what that area is called. We have also looked into Bertha Park. What high schools have the best reputation? Its not something I have to think about straight away but would be nice to know. Are people in Perth friendly to non-locals?
