Things to do in a wet summer holiday

So, looks like it's just going to rain for the last couple of weeks of the holiday.
Have done cinema, soft play, trampolining - dcs are alternately bored/happy to be playing on xboxes but I am stir crazy and want to get out of the house! Any have suggestions of how to pass the time? We are in a city but it's all so dear...
Maybe should just suit them up and go out in the rain.

Speaking of statues etc. How about the oor wullie bucket trail OP?

Mrsjayy · 30/07/2019 09:41

It is just weird how an inanimate thing can scare you I fell over an oor wullie at haymarket trainstation the other week there might have been wine involved Grin

I may have told ds2 that the statues were naughty children turned into statues Blush so I don't think we could do a trail of them!
This thread is reminding me how much cool stuff we have here, thank you! Still think that most of the free stuff is outdoors, and most of the indoor stuff is ££ - not just a tenner type, but £50 for a family. Have sacked them off today and gone to Ikea alone GrinGrin

Enjoy IKEA, could have taken younger one and left them in the creche?

Agree indoor stuff is more expensive, you can't really get away with going to the pet shop to see the fish instead of a proper aquarium like you could when they were toddlers. Not much use on a random basis, but if they are into computers, is there a coderdojo or prewired provision near you? That's usually free but needs prebooked. Have a look on eventbright for random stuff that is on. We've done things like a board game open day and a photography demo and competition through spotting it on there.

There was a Itison offer for transgression park at Ocean Terminal, £9 for 2 kids for 2 hours I think. And you don't need to stay, you can drop them off and go shopping or for coffee.

Train to Glasgow then to the riverside museum.

Saughton Park is really good now. I met my friend there with her kids the other day and they played for a good couple of hours while we chatted. We had a good walk round the rest of the park.

Thanks for all the suggestions! It has been a lot easier with the better weather Smile and I will bear Transgression park in mind for next week as I think the rain is returning - then they're back! ShockSad Hope the days are passing well for all of you Flowers
