suggestion for tween party Glasgow / Loch Lomond area

My DD is 11 in February and wants a party activity followed by a sleepover. She doesn't want a party in the actual house (just a sleepover). She wants to go and do something fun then bring her friends back for a party.

she only wants 3 friends so I dont see a point in booking somewhere that has a minimum of 8 or 10 people requirement.

She has ruled out trampoline parks, doesn't want to do lazer tag, nothing of interest in the cinema in February, not interested in hot tub party, not interested in make up / beauty parties, doesn't want to do ice skating or snowboarding, not interested in baking/chocolate parties, not interested in go karting.

I'm out of ideas but she wants to 'do something'. We are also pretty skint after xmas.

Any fun, non childish, and relatively inexpensive ideas Scot mummies?

www.climbzone.co.uk/the-skypark/ dd went here for one of her birthdays. Bowling?

An escape room?

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/01/2019 18:24

Given she has eliminate every activity known to man, she either needs to define what "fun" is or give some ideas.

Personally I'd give them a tenner each and drop them off at a "safe" shopping centre for a couple of hours :) They'd probably love the independence and enjoy deciding what to spend the money on.

Was there not a roller disco thing in Glasgow or does that come under the same nope as ice-skating? Swimming?

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/01/2019 18:27

We have somewhere reasonably local to us (but not you) that does jewelry making so might there be something similar or something else crafty that they might like?

strangerthongs · 04/01/2019 18:37

aye she's currently in that moody wee shite stage....sigh. Doing my box in, wants a party but cannot define 'fun'.

I like the escape room idea, although there seems to be a minimum number for parties too so I will need to make enquiries.

Roller stop looks good (to me) but yes it might come under the "what if I fall and everyone laughs at me" category.

oh and she's scared of heights, and boats (so she claims anyway but I don't believe her) so that rules out the climbzone too

You have my sympathy OP. I don't want to turn it into a girl v boy thing as they are all different, but the boy version of the wee shite stage tends to come later when you are more able to leave them to their own devices.

strangerthongs · 04/01/2019 19:16

bloody hormones, boys have it easy lol

Treezone at Loch Lomond Shores is brilliant and there is no chance of falling!!

ClerkMaxwell · 04/01/2019 19:17

Pottery painting?

Staff at Rollerstop really good with kids - willing to spend time helping out those struggling.

strangerthongs · 04/01/2019 20:08

I think the escape room idea could work. I personally would love rollerstop or ice skating but it's not my party lol. I will put the rollerstop idea to her too.

She hates Treezone. apparently the last treezone party she attended was full of crying kids who were too scared.

hurrah she seems keen on the escape room idea! I can only see one place in Glasgow that does kids versions though and they have a minimum number of 8. Are there any others that do kids parties?

www.escape-glasgow.co.uk/live-escape-glasgow/ - this says 2-6 players

TheDuckSaysMoo · 04/01/2019 20:35

DS 11 had a party at dementedpixie's place. Well, it was just a normal 60 min session rather than a party. The kids then voted to go to subway. It worked well but they needed to have an adult (me) in the room.

strangerthongs · 05/01/2019 12:01

bit worried about this idea now after the Poland tragedy...how safe are the escape rooms you all went to?

MacarenaFerreiro · 05/01/2019 14:55

I've done loads of escape rooms in Glasgow including the one demented pixie recommended and they're all incredibly safe.

Some don't actually lock you in. In every single one I've ever done there is a real life person sitting in the room next door either watching you on CCTV or listening on a baby monitor. If for whatever reason anyone wants to leave at any time, they just need to say so and the door is opened within seconds.

It really is very safe. And a lot of fun too.

WaxOnFeckOff · 05/01/2019 16:01

I haven't seen anything about a tragedy but will google later. The one we did in Edinburgh had a fire door to the outside but like Macarena says, they were watching you on CCTV and listening and would give you clues on the tv screen when you were stuck. The key was sort of symbolic rather than operational if I remember correctly.
