Old Drumchapel

Hi,

We're morning to Glasgow and have seen a couple of. I've houses in Old Drumchapel. Does anyone know much about the area? Train links seem good and the house prices seem ok. Schools not an issue so not worried about that. Any info would be great, thanks!

Old Drumchapel is fine and does have some nice houses. But it's problem is that it is beside Drumchapel which doesn't have a good reputation.

If you can't afford Bearsden/Milngavie understandably Wink - have look at some of the areas in the South Side like Shawlands, Newlands, Pollokshields, Langside, Cathcart. Even Rutherglen (just outside the city boundary).

The good thing about Glasgow is that most areas have good transport links Smile

Autocorrect typo Blush: its problem

We need to stay close-ish to the west end and although we quite like the look of Kelvindale the semis are going for 300k whereas we could get a detached in OD for that (although I see a semi went for that price there recently but was big). Bearsden is too far I'm afraid but I thought the prices for (admittedly a bit small) John Laurence builds were really good!

Love the south side but too far out from where we need to be.

Have you lived in Glasgow before? Are you working at Glasgow university? What about renting first to get a feel of the area? Due to new rental laws, there's no minimum contract so you could move after a few months.

This is in Kelvindale (under offer):

Depends how much they're going over the home report - my friend sold a 1 bed flat in Partick last year and it went significantly over the home report.

Hi, im in knightswood which is between old drumchapel and anniesland. We moved up a year ago and absolutely love it. We struggled to find a house to buy as they are pretty much snapped up straight away but were lucky after I posted on here and someone contacted me.
We can walk/cycle to work in the city, the train station is really close and we get the best Of The west end without the prices.
If you want to pm me feel free x

Thanks @Hannah4banana and @TakeAChanseyOnMe. That one in Kelvindale is lovely but our budget is 300k and I imagine it went over that.
Knightswood looks nice too but looking for detached ideally and not sure there are many there. Very handy spot right enough!

Try West Dunbartonshire area?

There are parts of Bearsden that are right next to drumchapel. It's quite a large town nowadays. Try the westerton area.
