Can't really advise on which brand (and remember you can get all the past papers on line) but the "How to pass...." books were recommended to me and I got ds the "How to Pass Higher English".

Dd preferred the SQA ones. Ds preferred using the online ones.

Another vote for the Hodder and Gibson How to guides from my DD. Although she used the Leckie and Leckie Success Guide for maths (her weakest subject). She just downloaded past papers from the SQA website.

Ask in your local charity shop - I volunteer in one and every June we're deluged with them as soon as the exams are over. We usually sell them at £3, which is a huge saving on new.

How to Pass and Bright Red Publishing have been helpful to candidates in my subject (English) SQA past papers are available on line so I wouldn't bother buying them (download 2014 soon before it disappears as in the past they've only kept 4 papers up. I don't rate the Leckie and Leckie practice papers (for English) as the question types in RUAE don't mirror SQA closely enough. In my maw capacity How to Pass Biology (Nat 5 and Higher), Maths N5, History (N5 and Higher) , Modies N5 and Physics N5 have all been successful.

Watch out for what seems a bargain as the courses have changed and only the newer editions reflect the recent changes.

Celticlassie · 15/07/2018 10:12

I'd advise the how to pass ones - she'll get all the past papers / specimen papers in school.
It's actually quite frustrating (as a teacher) when you set a past paper as homework and the pupil has the book (hence the marking scheme!) at home already!

thanks everyone. that's helped as it wa sa confusing nightmare.

Have a look at SCHOLAR - her school should be able to provide info on it
