Secondary school to support dyspraxia in Edinburgh private or state

Hello, my niece has recently been diagnosed with dyspraxia and will soon move up to secondary school. Her primary school have not been majorly supportive but they have been trying to create supporting systems at home. Moving to secondary seems daunting esp as she is in a small primary. Does anyone have any experience of or can you recommend any secondary schools good at supporting this condition who understand it. Lots seem to understand dyslexia but not so much dyspraxia. I have heard St. George’s recommended?? Any advice really appreciated as it will completely shape her future having the right support in place. They are prepared to move to catchment or look at private but time is of the essence as she is p6. I know a good bit about schools here but less about additional support. Thank you in advance.

There is a Facebook page for kids with Dyspraxia- it's fairly recently started but might be a good starting point.

Dd is at St. George's, just finished p7 with dysgraphia and dyspraxia. Would highly recommend it. Her state school up to p3 was terrible and she left due to unresolved bullying (being called stupid all the time) and no learning support at all. Next school (not in Edinburgh) was private and ok, but since we moved to Edinburgh during P6 she has thrived. St. George's is not overly posh, good IT support and although there is plenty of sport, not being sporty is ok. Dd doesn't get much learning support, but the staff make allowances and help her with her organisation, which is all she needs. I would suggest starting before S1 though if at all possible, as I think they do a lot more in P7 than other schools, because they don't have transition / end of primary stuff going on.

Soapysuds thank you that is really helpful. I will pass that on. Thank you good to hear from the horses mouth as it were. I don’t think they could afford private until s1 as they have other kids in childcare, but good to know they do so much in p7. Also that’s for the heads up that it is not overly posh. She would find a way to go private if it was the best option but I know she would worry about my niece not fitting in. Thank you
