Luxury Spa Hotel

DH and I thinking of treating ourselves to a child free night away for our 3rd anniversary later in the summer/start of autumn. We fancy a luxury spa hotel somewhere scenic not too far (up to 2 hour drive) from Glasgow.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Gleneagles. It’s lovely.

Old Course in St Andrews?

OllyBJolly · 15/04/2018 15:23

Not scenic but Westerwood in Cumbernauld has a terrific spa

We're currently at Norton House Hotel and Spa. It's a few minutes away from Edinburgh Airport.

Had a spa day then checked into the hotel. Have dinner bed and breakfast included. Been very worth it. It's very close to home for us but it's the first time we have left the teens home alone.

Archerfield at North Berwick

Stobo Castle is lovely, really picturesque. The grounds are beautiful

I second Stobo castle, might be a bit pricey but you get a lovely 3 course dinner, proper breakfast and lunch included as well as access to hot tub, saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzis and pool with an amazing view and can add on massages etc. Stay in the lodges, they're off the main house so they're a fair bit quieter and their cheaper and its only a 100m walk if that to the main building. There's also a japanese garden you can explore. Been treated to it by my mum as a christmas treat and went with her and my aunt and cousin and have never been more relaxed in my life. There's a lounge area where you can order coffee/cocktails/mocktails/wine/champagne/whatever your poison is and you get complimentary slippers and lovely robe you can take home with you. Still have some of the mini toiletries from the bathroom that I use when I'm going for a night out. Not to be missed! Note: took a while to find driving by car, got a little lost but that might just be my mum's terrible sense of direction.

Wow! Merlot described it so much better than I did Grin

Stobo is great, been there lots, but with groups of women. It's a very women focused experience. It's bloody rubbish for het couples though, you will be split up for most of the spa stuff. Always felt sorry for couples there.

Fonab is not a spa experience at all, they have a jacuzzi and sauna, but it's not a spa location. Lovely, but not that.

Blythswood Hotel is actually brilliant for a spa day. Have dinner there too and it's a great treat. Hotel rooms are lovely too. Not out of Glasgow, but hey.

Luss - Lodge on the Loch has decent food and saunas in every room, each of which looks out onto Loch Lomond. It's a nice stay

Gleneagles is my favourite spa experience, and you can use the separate leisure pool which has an outside section which is fab. My friends and I go before Christmas and you can be outside surrounded by snow, all cosy in the water.

I didn't rate Stobo at all, I felt it was too busy and it was all a bit hurried.

Like Blythswood too, and the One Spa in Edinburgh.

The westerwood therapist was amazing, but it's not quite as much of a spa experience as the others.
