Shortest Day

Anyone else struggling with the total darkness??? Just watching the news and the have the lovely Carol doing the weather in London in broad daylight, and here (Glasgow) it's pitch dark.

I really hate the darkness, I struggle through from the day the clocks go back until New Year then things start to get better as the days get lighter. I know things swing the other way in June when it's so light but that's scant comfort in mid-December. if you're in Shetland I don't know how you'd cope!

I hate it too. But it's going to start getting lighter again soon so chin up!

It's full daylight in London?! Wow. I've just dropped kids to school bus in dark, now sat at my desk in office and it's still dark...

I hate this too, I start to feel the dread once the clocks go back in October. I actually feel a bit better knowing it's the shortest day tomorrow and after that things can only get better.

Totally agree. I did a lot of reading around this lack of light thing when the clocks went back in October and have been taking Vit D. Not sure that it helps, tbh. Also getting out in the morning when we have a bright day helps considerably but those are few and far between - today is one of those grey, miserable days where it's going to be dull all day and dark again by 3.30pm.

Super depressing. I'm sure the darkness is the main reason I dislike Christmas so much.

Anyway. as of tomorrow it's going to start getting lighter again by 15 minutes a week. Definitely something to celebrate.

This used to really bother me. Now I focus on it getting lighter from now on. 15 minutes a week means that by mid Jan the day is a whole hour longer. I still think it would be better if the clocks didn't go back though.

Otoh DH is Southern English so we need proper blackout curtains for the summer or he complains about it being too light. Xmas Smile

Once it got light it was actually quite pleasant this morning. Took myself off for a walk around the Kelvingrove Park in the sunshine and it was warm and lovely. Half an hour sitting on a bench with the sun on my face and a coffee and I feel SO much better.

12.5C in Glasgow today - taps aff weather!!
