Dh calls them dumplings but I've always said doughballs so we have to argue every time he makes them Wink

Yes, we are talking the suet things you put in mince/stew. I wouldn't generally put them in normal stew but do if it's goulash.

if it's normal stew then I usually put cobbles on the top. Cobbles = savoury or cheese scones before I start another "what do you call it?" :o

I'm edinburgh. My granny was fae Leith and called them doughboys.

Always called doughboys in Wales my kids argue with me when I call the garlic ones from a certain pizza chain doughboys too!

NE here. My mother always used to call them doughboys but I thought that was just her own version of the word.

I love them, but hate mince so haven't had them for years Sad

Stirling too (lived here all my live) baws like previous poster . Never heard boys but maybe a Glasgow influence in areas where I live/d . Craving mince n tatties with over cooked vegetables and dough balls now.
