We're going to be in Glasgow and will be kid free. I fancy having a glass of fizz somewhere first and then a nice meal. We have eaten in the Chip before and loved it but fancy trying somewhere different. Looking on Tripadvisor The Gannet may be an option?

So MNers, where can we go for a nice drink and a good meal (either in the same place or short walk between them)?

Don't they have a sister restaurant?

DoFliesHaveKnees · 29/07/2017 21:52

We went to the Beer Kitchen on Ashton Lane, it was nice. They had mainly burgers on the menu iirc, which were nice and the wine was lovely!

I love the Chip. But we recently had drinks and dinner at Iberica and loved it. If you want white linen and silver service Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery is good.

FeedMeWell · 29/07/2017 21:57

The Gannet is great and you could have a drink at the Kelvingrove Cafe or The Finnieston. Lovely fish at Crabshakk but more hectic than the Chip.

Rogano is lovely especially if you like art deco

AgentProvocateur · 30/07/2017 21:15

The food at the gannet is lovely, but it's not got the same atmosphere as the chip. It's a bit staid, if you're not in the main bar bit.

PoppyPopcorn · 31/07/2017 10:30

Quite like Stravaigin which is similar and close by on Gibson St.

Celticlassie · 01/08/2017 20:36

The Butchershop is lovely. A lovely atmosphere too. Would recommend The Gannet too.
The food in the Ox and Finch is brilliant but it's a very laid back, informal atmosphere.

Oh, I just came on to say The Atlantic Brasserie and or Anchor Line as well, but beat to it

areyougoingtoeatthat · 02/08/2017 14:40

Thanks everyone. I think we'll need to organise more kid free trips - so many places to visit!

The Hanoi Bike Shop, lovely place that does vietnamese street food.

The menu caters for vege's, vegans and the gluten free Smile

I think the Rogano is looking a bit tired and shabby these days. Needs a bit of money spent on it. Doesn't feel very special anymore. Would recommend a glass of fizz in Hutchesons downstairs bar, then head upstairs for a meal.

Redtartanshoes · 04/08/2017 17:41

Alstons at the station is great, as is Miller and Carter and Hutchesons

DCFlemingreportingforduty · 04/08/2017 17:43

Stravaigin is lovely.
The Ox and Finch - very popular so do book.

Appin · 04/08/2017 17:48

Ox and Finch definitely.

soundsystem · 04/08/2017 17:50

The Finnieston. Especially if you like gin!

Ox and Finch and the Atlantic Brasserie also nice as previously mentioned
