Please don't flame me if you've seen a lot of similar threads or are fed up with brexit threads. Dh is Scottish. I'm English. We currently live in England but feel very disconnected with England following the eu ref. I've loved Scotland the few times we've visited and I'm v fond of MIL and SIL. Dh's job is very moveable. We're seriously considering a move. We are country rather than city loving people. Please tell me about where you live and love.

I wouldn't move to a village - my iLs are still considered as outsiders even though they have lived in their village for 40 years!

Also be prepared for everyone to know (or think they know) your business, to comment on what you do, how you live your life etc etc

I'd move from here in a heartbeat fingers crossed for lottery win - either that or live in a city

I live in Easter Ross. Just over the black Isle. Villages around here not insular. Nobody treated as outsiders because the area is full of incomers coking to work in Nigg and Invergordon which are busy again just now. Good schools, lots of villages but plenty supermarkets in driving distance and not that far from Inverness for shopping. Also go to Elgin or Aberdeen reasonably regularly as well. Kids play out here. Plenty of after school activities locally.
I had lived here before. Moved to a bigger city for work but came back as the dc started to grow up. Love it here. So do they.

I often find that the people who have "problems" are the problems themselves. Know what I mean!

Inverness and Moray.
Beaches, mountins, countryside and city life all accessible.

Strathspey is lovely.

I've lived in Scotland for 20+ years: Glasgow, near Aberfoyle and now Edinburgh and never had/seen any anti English behaviour beyond office banter about supporting any football team playing against England...

Killearn a few miles north of Glasgow is pretty and commutable to Glasgow. Definitely a village - good school, a nice restaurant and café. To the south of Glasgow the village of Bridge of Weir is very similar.

I'm in Aberdeenshire and I love it. Beautiful countryside, friendly small town and it's easy to travel into Aberdeen for cinema, theatre. The influx of other nationalities that came with the oil means that there are plenty of non-Scots about. I don't think it's an insular area.

I'm just outside Dundee and love it! So much going on in Dundee at the moment - it's definitely shaking off its Scumdee reputation! We stay in a cottage with a fairly large garden, in a semi-rural village with lovely little school, 7 miles from Dundee. Some of my English friends live (or have lived) nearby and have never experienced any animosity....And our house is up for sale Wink shameless promotion I know! x

I'm fleeing England for Scotland this year. A tad worried about the village comment above... we've bought a house in a little village just west of Edinburgh. Oh well... ive nothing to hide!

live abroad now but was home for the school symmer holidays and loved it . if DH could get a job there we'd be back in a heart beat.
