Where is it? We are currently in a 2 bed flat in Edinburgh by the beach. Mostly like the area, but we need more space as we now have a toddler and baby. Can't afford the house prices here, and are really looking for adetatched house with garden, drive way etc.

Also, thinking of things like schools and community. I'm learning to drive, but would ideally have decent public transport. Budget maximum £300,000.

So far considering Fife,,Borders, East Lothian, Linlithgow or Dunbar. Can't afford Linlithgow though it seems!

Any other places we could consider!?

Ooh someone mentioned my village already. Now I need to find out who they are!

Thanks for all the advice so far. I was wondering if anyone knew much about Cockburnspath. A small village at the start of the borders? Any opinions, good or bad? X

Co'path is absolutely lovely and good links to A1 and if you have a car, to the train station in Dunbar. Its about 45 mins to Edinburgh by car, 30 mins to the outskirts (Fort Kinnaird etc). We also know the Head (who is lovely but stretched as he works between Co'path and Coldingham)

Thank you so much. Really useful to know. Some beautiful properties with a wide budget, so going to have a look. I'm from a small town, so was a bit worried about fitting in etc. Seems like there are a few houses for sale so bound to be newcomers arriving X
