Is it safe to walk across the suspension bridge (South Portland St?) near St Enochs or the road bridge (Glasgow) Bridge in the dark, in your opinion please? Both are lit but....

Would you walk from from there to the underground in Tradeston?

What time are you talking about? Its a well used route and usually fairly busy. I used to live near the city centre and walked across the road bridge at all times of day and night including afterpub shifts and never had any bother. There is usually plenty of traffic passing right up to bridge street too.
I wouldn't recommend the foot bridge later on though as the sherrif court side isn't as well lit.

Thank you. DD is about to move into a flat in Tradeston very near the Clyde. She'll need to cross the bridge every day.

Ahh okay. Yeah I lived near there for nearly 15 years and never had any bother. But other option is getting a 10 week bus pass for £88 (I think) as there is a ton of buses either going along Paisley road West or to Shawlands inc night buses on the weekends. Not for safety reasons but it can be bloody freezing!

Do you mean Bridge St underground? It's always busy round there as its next to O2 Academy. I often walk from city centre to Citz and back. I'd always use a road bridge rather than pedestrian one, although I'm not sure why. I know lots of students living over the river this year. I'm sure she'll have a ball.

Thank you. I really appreciate your posts.

Flat is very close to the pedestrian bridge - Carlton Place (very smart but tiny but that's another story). Nearest subway is Bridge St. (or St Enoch's)

They're both in quite busy areas they're well lit and covered by CCTV. For all the distance it is I wouldn't worry too much.

Thank you. Smile
