Hi everyone,

Im just curious seeing if I'm missing any interesting ideas. What are they doing? How often are they at clubs? Are they playing independently or with siblings or parents? What games or hobbies.

I'll start: mine is in sports or drama clubs 2-3 days a week. Otherwise some tv, some podcasts, driving remote control car, lego (but wants parents to join in), family visits, board games with parents, park, softplay.

This is the only time being married to a teacher has a plus side. We do a 2-3 week holiday and he deals with the rest.

I’m due baby number three any day now and finances are tight whilst on mat leave so my DS6 is not doing any holiday clubs. He did a week of intensive swimming lessons last week and then we have been going on a dog walk everyday (yesterday it was a bike ride, today we stopped for an ice cream half way and then had a paddle in a local river), been doing a mixture of crafts/baking/activities at home that we already had, utilising our NT membership, swimming and play dates. We will do a small handful of paid activities such as cinema, soft play etc. but trying to limit to one a week.

everyday we aim to do a dog walk, one activity, half an hour of them helping me with a job around the house and then I’m pretty laid back with screen time around these

I've got DS7 and DD11. I'm not working at the moment and DH has some time off every week, so this year childcare hasn't been a problem. We're very lucky in this regard.

We're trying to do one "thing" every day. Some days that's a whole day out (zoo, theme park, beach trip), some days it's staying home in the morning and going out for a bit in the afternoon (park, library, shops etc). They have swimming lessons on Saturday mornings which run through the holidays, other than that no clubs are on (they normally do Guides/Beavers). We went on a UK holiday for a week right at the start, and have a couple of days at the seaside booked nearer the end. Next week we're doing 2 days at their favourite theme park.

When we're at home they play together, listen to music, do Lego, play video/board games, go on the trampoline, draw... and complain that they're bored/hungry!

Today we stayed at home in the morning and they played a video game for a bit, then we organised some Lego and played some paper games. After lunch we went for a walk in the woods and went to the playground. Now DD is listening to music in her room and DH is helping DS with a tricky level on his game.

Last summer was awful and we did nothing special at all (DM died and I was very busy dealing with everything, DC often got dragged along), so we're trying to make up for it a bit this year. I'm also very aware DD might not want to hang out with us as much in the next couple of years so I'm trying to enjoy her company while I can!
