lego land - is it too young for an 11 year old

My son is 11 - he loves lego. He is a young 11 (adhd and autism but high functioning) i am reading such mixed reviews on lego land in windsor.
I was going to take him away for two nights but I have concerns that the entertainment is too babyish for him as I am reading its geared up for toddlers.

Can anyone tell me what the entertainment is like?

Also reading the food is awful! i am getting put off by booking it - its not cheap either.
thanks

I took my 4 year old a couple of weeks ago.

I would say 11 is definitely on the older side but when I went, there were loads of school trips who were probably year 6, so the same age.

Does he like rollercoasters? We did the minifigure speedway which goes backwards, that was fun.

Yes the food is rubbish and expensive and long queue times. I brought a packed lunch.

Another tip would be to download the legoland app and generally keep an eye on queue times for a few days. They were ok for the first half of the day, but then they got really long. We got in the queue for the pirate falls log flume and it hardly moved for 30 mins so we gave up.

He'll have a great time. There's Ninjago ride, laser raiders, panning for gold (£6), pirate treasure falls, the dragon, hydra falls and flight of the sky lion. That would make a great day. The train back up the hill at the end is handy. Also hunt out the sensory room which is for Sen kids only, show evidence on entry. It's a really nice chilled out room. Good for a reset. I think 13 and older is probably too old..but 11 fine

Also just to mention there's a new activity opening on 4th August you might want to wait for. It's a Ferrari sponsored room to build your own sports car and watch it race on a track.

Mine loved the countries built from Lego even as teens.
He’d be fine at 11 if he’s into Lego. However be prepared to feel ripped off as an adult and stay later when the crowds have thinned out.

My kids are 14 (ASD) & 12 twins and have requested a return to Legoland over Alton Towers. I'm not into Lego but the theming is good, the rides are fun and the Lego builds are impressive.
Depending how far away you are I'd maybe go for just one night or choose an off-site hotel. We stayed nearby once with a hotel & tickets package which was cheaper.
If you get DLA you can get a free carer entry. Also look at their ride access pass scheme to avoid queues if your child struggles. It doesn't massively help us as DS opts out of some of the more exciting rides so the twins have to queue anyway but it can be helpful on a busy day.

Would you recommend two days at Legoland to do everything? Planning for next inset day

Stripeysockspots · 28/07/2025 07:05

Can you afford to go to billund instead? If you leave it until end of August the danes are back at school and Legoland is empty..you can walk onto all the rides with no queues and they have the LEGO house which is fabulous and perfect for an 11 year old

lottiegarbanzo · 28/07/2025 07:18

Sounds perfect for a younger 11. The rides are fun, some are for toddlers, then up in age to about 11-12 with nothing too big or scary.

Not sure what you mean by entertainment, the rides or something else at the hotels?

Alltheoldpaintings · 28/07/2025 07:25

My autistic 10.5 year old loves it and wants to go again soon. The entertainment (like character meet and greets and Lego cartoons on a big screen) was more for younger kids, but if your boy likes rollercoasters and rides there’ll be lots for him to enjoy.

Also various places you can stop off and build Lego for a while when you need some calmer time.

Lindy2 · 28/07/2025 07:47

I'd say there's plenty to do for that age group. There's enough activities and rides for older children to keep them happy.

I've taken older than 11s before and they've had a very full, fun day.

herbalteabag · 28/07/2025 07:57

We first went when eldest was 9 and it was great. We also went again when he was 14 but that was mainly because of having a younger sibling. I thought there were some suitable rides, but I don't like thrill rides! It's not aimed at toddlers. The exhibition is good.

This has been open a couple of years?! Though it was closed when we went in June so perhaps it’s reopening in August. I do think it would appeal to an 11 year old.

theres also miniature speedway rollercoaster, dragon roller coaster, sky lion and the log flume all of which I think would be good for 11 year olds.

Plus if he likes Lego mini land etc will appeal to him.

re entertainment, there isn’t any at the moment, the pirate show, puppet show etc have all been stopped. I would say they’d been too young for him though.

scaredfriend · 28/07/2025 08:08

My 14 and 13 year olds loved it last year. DS (13) is a thrill seeker and loves Alton Towers etc, but still enjoyed Legoland. No, the rides aren’t as thrilling and are more suited to families with younger children but they’re still fun and if he’s into Lego then he’ll love the miniland lego displays etc.

Tia247 · 28/07/2025 08:22

Oh what a shame they've cut the pirate show, I enjoyed that even as an adult. There's so much to look at there that if he loves lego I'm sure he'll enjoy it. Will he cope with the crowds and queues? Midweek outside of the summer holidays is the best time to go, but the weekend after the summer holidays may be a bit quieter. We had annual tickets for a few years and DS loved legoland (also ASD).

newtvnewsofanewcomputer · 20/08/2025 11:38

I hope not. My youngest is now 12, we were there last year and he loved it and we are hoping to squeeze in a visit before the end of the holidays.

T1Dmama · 25/08/2025 16:32

We went when my daughter was about 10 and honestly thought it was quite lame.
fine if you are super into lego, but she wasn’t - so the rides were the main attraction for us and all were aimed at younger kids.
if you’re close enough I’d say paultons park is more suited to a pre teen

Namechange822 · 25/08/2025 16:37

My neurotypical 10 year old, quite old for her age, likes Lego but not obsessively, has been for the first time this year and absolutely loved it, came home buzzing. So I think it would be perfect for your 11 year old.
