Trick or treating ... thoughts

Does anyone else not allow their children to trick or treat? We do Halloween activities in the house, have been to Halloween parties and a Halloween farm day over this half term but do not allow my ds to go out trick or treating.

I was never allowed as a child and apply the same to my own child. Not for religious reasons but not comfortable with receiving gifts from strangers.

Does anyone else not allow their children to go trick or treating? Just genuinely curious

It's just a bit of fun. Round here you don't even have to knock on doors - people are standing there with their doors open ready to give out the sweets! I used to be sniffy about it myself but seeing how much DD and her friends love it has changed my mind.

It was so lovely on our road last night. A really great community party spirit. Lots of neighbours chatting. Some houses had music and lights in the front garden.
Everyone polite and absolutely only knocking on houses that had pumpkins or decorations. There would be no need to sit in the dark!
Some people who wanted to join in without constantly getting up for the door had decorations and left a bowl of sweets outside.
