SAHM trying to escape DP

I have decided to leave my DP due to his behavioural issues making family life intolerable. I have a 2yr old DD with some ongoing health issues, she is currently being investigated for IBD.
I have found a potential private rented property that accepts tenants on benefits. The rent is £1300 pcm.
I am completely new to understanding the benefits system. How do I understand how much I am going to be able to claim? I am currently unemployed, a SAHM and not keen on putting DD in childcare until she is has at least got her health issues under control.
Is it likely that UC will cover all of my rent or just a proportion of it? Can anyone direct me to where I can get some advice? Many thanks all!

So sorry I don't have any practical advice but just wanted to wish you the very best of luck. I left my abusive ex and virtually every day I thank the lord I got out.

Hi OP, nobody here is going to be able to give you a complete answer because there’s too many variables. How much you get depends on a few things, one being the amount of rooms you need for your family (so it’s not a case of you finding say a 3 bed house for just you and your child, that wouldn’t be covered) and it depends on the Local Housing Allowance for your area. I know where we live it’s very uncommon now for that to cover the entirety of rent so have a look to see what it is for where you live. It’s also worth noting I know you say your child is 2 at the moment but from when they turn 3 you will be expected to work 30 hrs or spend 30 hrs doing work related activities. X

Use Turn2Us, they will calculate what you might get on their website.

There's benefit calculators online, try googling "turn to us", you can put your details in, and get an idea.

Universal credits will usually expect you to look for/ return to work when you're child is 3. But if your DD's health issues qualify her for DLA (middlerate or higher), you might be exempt as a carer.

When I left my abusive DP, council told me
To look to privately rent a 1 bed flat. They told me I would (eventually when my savings had dwindled) be able to claim £852 a month for the rent. Trouble is all you can get round here for that amount is a room in a house share. 1 bedroom flats cost £1100 to £1500.

Thank you everyone for your helpful advice and support. It is a really tough one to weigh up. I really don't know what to do, I think I am going to have to weigh up my options. It feels like a choice between emotional freedom vs financial stability. Do I put up with DP whilst formulating a longterm game plan to exit or do I just jump ship for the sake of instant freedom and peace but the likelihood of financial struggle. It is so bloody hard.
