How to do NI contributions

Hi there am currently sahm. I wasn’t sure if/how to pay in NI contributions. Dh doesn’t seem to think it’s worth it because he reckons they might scrap state pension and because we have a property in my name and all goes to me (I know I know, incredibly first world problems). I want to make sure I’m doing everything though so think I probably should.

Anyone know roughly how much this would be, how it works and if they’ve done it too? Thanks.

Sign up for child benefit, even if your DH earns too much for you to receive any money. This way your yearly NI contributions are covered.

Definitely do this - you get credits until your youngest child is 12. The application needs to be in your name. You do not want gaps in your NI contributions. Your husband is completely wrong - it is really important for SAHPs.

Until your youngest is 12, child benifit.
After that, look at how many years you have credited, and think about where to go from there.
