Hello!
I could do with some inspiration on things to do with my soon to turn one year old little one please. DH works nights so I’m trying to get out the house as much as possible. Swimming/library/museum/children’s Centre each one day a week with supermarket visits in between too. I have no friends I can go to, small family who work full time and don’t live locally.
Inspire me please mumsnetters!

What about outdoor activities like walks in the park or on the beach? At that age both my ds's loved exploring outside and as long as they are wrapped up warm its lovely for them to be outside. Other indoor things like soft play or we have a large museum near us that is free entry and is great for little ones.

I do go to the park with him regularly and also feed the ducks too, I’ve been taking him to the museum once a week also. I’m just worried that he’s going to get bored doing the same activities as I know I am now finding it a little monotonous! Most of the time I haven’t access to a car either.

Are there any church / village hall play groups - these are normally cheap. We have things like toddler cinema / music classes.

I’m hoping once new year is out the way properly then classes will open back up again. I’ve been to the cafe this week which little one loved! People watching and seeing the buses go past seemed very much enjoyable!! Wink

I’m a childminder and dh works nights so we go out the majority of mornings. We go to the church playgroup, singing group and childminder groups on set days and on the other days we go to the park/forest/canal for a walk if the weathers ok or soft play if the weather is dire.
Are there any groups or classes you could go to with your baby? This would enable you to meet other mums and maybe make friends, who you would then be able to meet to do other activities- meet at the park/walk/farm/soft play so these things become less monotonous and a bit more fun for you too.

I need to check out the local church. I’m not religious at all though, haven’t been to church since school, will this be a problem?

The local children’s Centre has music group each week which we go to if he isn’t napping. They’ve got an under one group but won’t be able to go to that for much longer which is why I’m trying to find different activities. The mums there don’t really seem interested in making friends with other mums unfortunately. I try to strike up conversation but it’s difficult.

I’m semi religious, but don’t go to church and the one with the playgroup isn’t my church anyway, so no, I don’t think it matters at all. I’ve found the church groups I’ve gone to over the years have all been really inclusive and accepting of everyone (I’ve been to several over different counties). Generally, the ladies who run them are from the church, often (ime) retired, and always happy to talk to new mums, hold the baby while you drink your coffee and help to introduce you to other mums if they can.
