As me and my fiancé have separate bank accounts (he works so the wage goes to his account) and we have 2 children under 3, I don’t really get much money in the bank apart from CB.

Obviously I’m bloody sick of having nothing in the bank. I Was wondering if there’s anything I can do from home to get a bit extra for myself? Doesn’t have to be a huge amount of money, but enough to get me by

Forget what other people say, you need money now, ironing can be quite lucrative, especially if you do shirts, also you can do it in the evenings at home. Advertise locally. Other things like dog walking are good too.

That is a really crap situation for you - kept from the money, made to go cap on hand and yet his hours mean you can’t just go get a job!

What about taking in ironing?

Whatever you do, avoid multi level marketing schemes such as Forever Living. The spiel sounds like the answer but honestly they prey on people like you and you’ll only lose money.

You need a joint account. Work out a budget of what your family needs, and what you need for yourself.

By staying at home you are enabling his career. You are both in it together, working for the same purpose.

If you have to ask/nag, if he isn’t sharing with you freely, you have a problem and this, for me anyway, would be a massive red flag.

Ironing/dog walking would be good. Just not sure where to start, prices etc

Look at your local dry cleaners, in London 5 shirts are 9 pounds or thereabouts, I used to pay someone a tenner to wash and iron 5 shirts for DH, I now do them myself and can do a shirt in 5 minutes if damp.

Look on local FB groups for dog walking or being a cat butler, good in the summer when people are on hols. Only do it locally, I once had someone do it for £8 a day (teenager next door) he came in once a day fed her, changed her water and cleared the litter tray of poos. Cat now goes outside so no litter tray but it's a doddle and takes five minutes, you could also say you'll water pot plants and pick up post off the mat and you'll be super popular.
