How often do you actually get out

I have a 13month old, don't drive, weather more often than not is rubbish.
I usually go to 2/3 classes/groups a week with lo, try get out one day a week as a family.

But can't help feel I don't go out often enough and lo is stuck in. If I'm bored she must be too.

How often do you actually get out, what do you do?

Also any suggestions on what activities we can do at home would be good.

Come rain or shine

Chocolateanddiamonds · 30/03/2018 18:50

What do you do everyday? I go to shops etc when I need something but I get incredibly bored goin around the shops for no reason and don't fancy getting drenched in the rain just walking the streets.

Have you got a library near you? We love the library. We're lucky to have playgroups nearby and soft play options.
I'd go out every day as I go insane staying in and playing every day.

I was in the same boat as you. I tried to go out most days, 3 days a week I went to a playgroup. Sometimes I went to the library. The park is good when its not raining. The museum if there's one close. My ds fav thing to do was to go to sainsburys and look at the hoovers. I also loved just going to Starbucks and having a cup of tea and cake. It got me out of the house.

When I was at home I tried to rotate what I did so I wasn't always doing the same things all the time. One day was crafts one day was building things etc etc

Chocolateanddiamonds · 30/03/2018 20:12

Yeh I'm going to do a rota type thing with activities so I don't do the same stuff daily.
Sadly I don't have museums close to me. And the baby/toddler groups tend to be on the same days of the week. One of the baby group I really don't like, the mums seem so cliquey and unfriendily so sometimes don't go to that one.

Is 13months too young for a library, lo just eats books

13 month old could chew on something and just look at the pages as you read. Libraries are great as they are free, around where I live they have great kids areas so separate from the adults who are using computers. You can stay for as long as you like in a rainy day and you can take out books for free and often you don't get fined if late (with kids books). We go often at a weekend and I'm hoping it encourages a love of books.
Worth a go for something different.

13 months is not too young for the library. They are usually very understanding if the board books get chewed- but obvs do your best to look after the books at home. Our local library does a Toddler Time session one morning a week. It's chaos!!!!

Chocolateanddiamonds · 30/03/2018 21:06

I have a ridiculous amount of books at home so wouldn't take any home.
I had about 50/60 books before lo was even born. Haha
Would just go to get out the house. Might give it a go see how we get on.

I have a 5 month old and have to get out every day otherwise I would go mad!

I try to go out between two of her naps, and just play in the house first thing in the morning and before bed. Sometimes just a walk to the shops, a walk in the park, I just joined the library and they run a session for babies I’ll be going to, we visit friends and go to a group at the local Children’s Centre which is free. I’ve just signed up for another group too.

mountaingirl220 · 10/04/2018 22:32

I go out twice a day every day. Mon: baby swimming lesson; music class followed by soft playgroup. Tue: stay n play and then library/story time and then soft playgroup wed and thur: stay n play and soft playgroup fri: baby swim lesson again and play date with two of his friends Sat: toddler football and then museum play sun: toddler gymnastics and the farm

When weather is better, we switch softplay to parks. Baby is 18 months old

Also, I made a list of home activities, so our three hours in the morning, I have stuff to do. He has loads of energy and it would drive me nuts not doing stuff or going out.
