HELP!? We are a family of 4, 30,28,7,5 we currently live in the south east. Like most at the moment find it difficult to get by month to month. And really are looking for a change of area to somewhere “better”. We want somewhere safer for the kids to grow up. Albeit I know every place has bad areas I also want something affordable. We haven’t yet sold our home as we are still unsure where we would like to be.

I was hoping I could use you fantastic people to give me an honest idea if you think the area in which you live is affordable and nice,

the wants: lots of green areas, the house to be a minimum of 3 bedroom, driveway, semi detached minimum, large garden & an office space. Budget is limited to £425,000.

hopefully you can help me with either an approximate area which is nice or of course tell me areas in which to avoid.

i have been looking Norfolk, Cambridge area but am completely open as I’ve never really ventured around the country too much.

thanks in advance!😃

Do you both work from home?

Samesame47 · 14/02/2025 08:57

You will easily get something in a North Nottinghamshire village for that budget, also a few options for easy trains to King’s Cross and good for commuters. We moved up here from the south west 8 years ago, best thing we did, we are in a lovely village surrounded by beautiful countryside. It’s so safe here that our visiting post office work out of the village hall, with an open tray of cash, the worst crime I have witnessed is my neighbour had some sheep stolen

I do but he doesn’t, his work is pretty transferable, not a huge salary so wouldn’t be hard to get similar anywhere from the looks of things

Thank you! See neither of us commute to London and both work in our local area pretty much but looking to be a maximum of 3 hours away from where we are now and that falls within. Seems like a large place in there any particular areas better than others please?

Beverly in Yorkshire would be ideal. Lovely market town. The Westwood ticks the plenty of “green” and it’s lovely
