Any experiences of moving from expensive (350 for 3 bed terrace small garden no driveway) in worthing (West Sussex) to somewhere further afield to get more for your money.
Need recommendations on nice areas with good schools as have little ones.
And any pros and cons please!!!
Tempted to get a farm in Aberdeen looking at the prices 🤣
Thanks in advance Smile

Do you want to move to a seaside town or village?

You will notice a difference in climate if you move 'up north' or to Wales from the south coast.

We moved from Bristol to West Wales with 2 young dc. Rural living not far from the beach. We have no neighbours. Dc have loved it, we love it, do lots of water sports etc. but.... there is zero public transport, my nearest shop which is the petrol station is 10 minutes drive away. GP service is great but hospital not so good, few decently paid jobs and much is based on tourism. Ds have gone to small schools, primary was welsh language. Education has been very good. You do need to adapt to living in such a rural area and make an effort to fit in. I am glad we did it.

The nice areas are expensive and due to second homes and holiday lets, there's no guarantee that there'll be a school in the village.

Would somewhere like the west side of Wirral fit the bill?

What do you need, in terms of work ? Facilities? Wi fi / broadband / Connectivity to facilities / towns / transport ?

Depends how far north?

North Wales, you could probably get a cheap house easily enough.

Cheshire? Some parts are expensive.

North east?

What do you want/ need?

A word of warning; do not move to ANYWHERE which isn't accessible for kids to be independent. Otherwise you will be chauffeuring children them around for a long while. I speak from
experience!

Yes, but the nice areas aren't cheap. North East Wales will be cheaper than Cheshire. The coastal towns that are cheap are generally a bit grotty.
(Deeside is traditionally industrial, Rhyl is a seaside resort that's no longer a seaside resort)
Inland NE Wales is much nicer.

Look at the railway map for Wales. Mid-Wales is particularly bad.

The nice parts of Cheshire are expensive. Wirral is in Cheshire but to the east of the M53 has more of a Merseyside feel. Liverpool is fab and fairly cheap.

Towards the south of Cheshire is heading towards the north of the Midlands.
The north part of Shropshire is nice.

I moved to Aberdeenshire and love it- there are some very good schooling options lots of rural living opportunities for sure at a fraction of Worthing prices.
Where we live, kids get the bus to Aberdeen and that's about 30 minutes away which I think is fine. Agree with others about being near a bus route though- do your homework!
Is really beautiful here but you do not move to Scotland for the weather that's for sure!
