Help! Looking for some ideas as to where we can move to. My twins are in Year 13 so will be moving on and my D13 doesn’t love where we are now and is keen to move.
We have family in the New Forest so would want to be within a couple of hours of them. Considering Bristol / Gloucester areas. Looking for nice villages with a couple of pubs and community but within a short drive of a town with good shopping and some life for teenagers. Price range 900k ish.
The key is private schools with fees around the £6k per term ( and availability?) that are not hot houses and have good netball for my netball mad daughter. She’s currently thinking Hartpury College for sixth form but she could board if we end up an hour or more away from there.
Anybody any ideas??

King's in Gloucester is lovely (day school, a bit more than £6K/term but not hugely off the mark). They also have good links with Hartpury College - some kids do a mix of King's Sixth form and Hartpury to do a Sport BTec and they get excellent results and have the best of both worlds, attending both college and school.
More independents in Bristol but pricey. Cheltenham isn't far away and also has a variety of independents, day and boarding.

Cheltenham has some lovely areas (Leckhampton, Charlton Kings) and good independent schools. Gloucester itself is a shithole, there is literally nothing to redeem it and not one nice part of, sorry. Lots of lovely villages out around Hartpury area (I live in one of them) and £900k a good budget. Otherwise Stroud area like a PP suggested, good schools and an arty vibe. Some lovely outlying areas like Chalford, Bisley, Rendcombe, Painswick.

Agree with this.

Chew Valley area - near Bristol and Bath. Really pretty. Lovely pubs, not sure about schools though!

Do you live in a village now? I would not move a 13 year old to a village if she is not used to one. She will be totally dependent on you for transport, and you'll spend the whole weekend, cooped up in the car together, as you ferry her to stuff.

Is Hartpury okay then? I'm also relocating and looking more around Cheltenham/South Worcestershire, but something just popped up in Hartpury which isn't really my thing, but I do like the outside space:

You need to factor the West Country roads if you want your trip to the New Forest to be easy. They are really slow. Google is very optimistic about West Country journey times. If you want an easy shot in to the New Forest, I'd be looking South of Bristol. Maybe look around Salisbury?

Unfortunately, I also think you might find your school budget tricky. For some reason, West Country private schools are expensive. You definitely would get nowhere near boarding fees on 6k a term. Warminster might suit and the day fees are close to your budget.

Stonar might also suit?
