Inherited field - how much to charge for horses?

Hello,
I've inherited a 4 acre field in Barnet that has had horses grazing on it in the past. This arrangement ended sometime ago as the lady renting it passed away. There is water and 2 stables on the land, it's secure and gated.
I'm not at all horsey and so have no idea at all about how much I should charge per month for rental or indeed how it would be described in Andy advert (DIY livery or is it just a field with 2stables?!?). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
(And it's green belt so can't be built on!)
Thanks

I'm in the East Midlands and here you'd be looking at around £25-30 per horse per week. I wouldn't allow more than 2 horses or 3 ponies on there because otherwise it'll get over grazed and trashed. Is it fenced or hedged? Make sure that your contract stipulates that boundaries must be maintained in a stockproof condition, some equines can be very destructive.
Please vet anyone that you are considering, ask for references ect. Horse people can be awful and there are a lot of scammers and dodgy types around. Plus,as the land owner, YOU are responsible for the welfare of any equines on your property,so if the tenant neglects them or abandons them ( sadly more common in recessions) it'll be you who will be held responsible for their welfare.
Google is your friend,as is Facebook, there are lots of pages about dodgy horse people, and those who rent a yard, trash it and scarper without paying. Good luck!

Ha! Didn't answer your question. Advertise it as yard for rent, sole use. DIY livery implies that the owner is on site/ around to sort out issues.

I’d sell it if you are not interested in using it yourself , renting it out will be a potential nightmare .

I'd use it to plant a mini woodland and orchard and make my own nature reserve. I'd have a space for veg too. I'd put a little trailer on it as a place to shelter and make a cup of tea when it rains. I might even get some geese, chickens and goats.

Thanks so much, especially @feckedupbundle, really useful advice. I think we've found someone local and known which will work out well I think . Thanks again
