Thinking of moving to Cheshire. What's it like to live? Seen some properties near Nantwich. Any help appreciated

I'm in cheshire and I love it, very flat thou and I miss the hills of Lancashire and the Pennines.

People are lovely, great access to cities and low crime.

Same as everywhere else. It has it posh areas and it's dumps. Don't be fooled by Cheshire life magazine, there's still plenty of council estates.

@bjjgirl @Bluebottlejuice
Can you tell me where are the good and bad parts of Cheshire? I don't need to be in the footballers poshest parts but likewise don't want to pick the wrong part. Spending about £650,000 on a property. Thanks

Do you want town / village or rural? Kids in school? Transport? Etc

bjjgirl · 03/07/2022 08:33

What size of house do you want

Nantwich is lovely. Just don't get stuck behind any tractors.

Looking for a 5 bed house. Would like rural/semi rural location. My children are 13 & 15 so would be looking at secondary schools too. Thanks for all your advice

There's a gated estate not far from Nantwich, called Wychwood Park. Houses range from 3 bed semi's to 6 bed detached. Has a golf course on the estate - and lots of green areas.
( I live just 'over the fence' from it, up a country lane. )
Something to bear in mind with your property search is that HS2, the high speed railway is going to be built - should come up on the searches when buying a house, but if you're going to rent before you buy it may be worth knowing.
Hope that helps.

I know north west Cheshire-the rolling part-very well. Nantwich though is lovely, as are Sandbach and Holmes Chapel. What I would say is the further North you go, you have better access to Liverpool, Manchester and Chester-people I know living in southern rural Cheshire always complain it takes ages to get anywhere. So you’ll be forever giving lifts!
For your budget, you can get something really nice. I can definitely recommend areas near Chester (like Kelsall, Tarporley, Bunbury is a lovely village). And some places will have much better public transport than others if you’d like your kids to have a bit more independence.

I’m on the Cheshire border. It’s really nice as a whole, just avoid Crewe.

I’ve lived near Chester and think that Cheshire is an absolutely beautiful place to live. Obviously as others have said, some rubbish areas but some lovely ones too - I live down south now and am amazed at the houses you can get for your money there as well. No specific recommendations re. High schools as I didn’t have children when I lived there but I loved it.
