Hi everyone,

I'm looking for your opinions please on house names. We have nearly finished renovating our property which is called The Bungalow. It will need a new name as it now has a first floor! We are really struggling to think of something.

We are lucky that we quite rural, lots of greenery and we often have Red Kites flying overhead. We are also surrounded by fields, where we often see pheasants & hares.

We need to submit 3 possible names to the council, so far I have -

Kites View

The Leveretts
Pheasants Nye.

What do people think??

I like the Leveretts, but I think you'll be forever spelling it out!

Thanks in advance

I saw that @abc5432 ! I was hoping it would be a slightly nicer name as I would be keen to use it if it was!

@WhoppingBigBackside my MIL suggested that! I can imagine that may well stick if we can't agree haha

@herecomesyour19thnervousbreakdown, I totally here you on that one. A number would be so much easier!

@Amdone123, thank you, seems to be a popular choice!

@PissedOffNeighbour22 I think they need to make sure it doesnt match a house within a 3 mile radius of ours, I think we get to pick if there are no clashes!

Kite Lodge

MummyHT · 17/05/2022 19:08

@Summerholidayorcovidagain I like it, can you imagine filling in forms - The house formally known as "The Bungalow" I don't know if it would all fit in the box haha

Avoid anything requiring an apostrophe, as you seem to like leaving them out🤣 It would be Pheasant's Walk.

I like Kite Lodge or Red Kite House

Snowiscold · 17/05/2022 19:23

Also could be Pheasants’ Walk.
Pheasants Walk isn’t right.

ElenaSt · 17/05/2022 19:31

Meadow View.

MummyHT · 17/05/2022 19:40

@Puffalicious clearly I do...😱

@Snowiscold clearly an ongoing problem of mine...... 🙄

I like Red Kite House.
Some of the old country names for hares could also be nice, like Sally, Jigfoot or Bouchart.

Didn't realise the council has to approve. I guess my council don't care as my new build neighbours have a very chavvy sounding house name that is out of sync with the rest of the houses.
Mine is named after the farm it was once part of (already named when we moved here).

Dying to know what the chavvy house name is!

I’d just call it Red Kites

Tarnation · 17/05/2022 19:58

Two Stories

(I have a friend whose new-build bungalow has been named "One Story" which I think is lovely with the book connotation)

Spanielsarepainless · 31/07/2022 16:33

Leveret only has one T. What's a Nye? Do you mean Nigh, as in near?
How about The Former Bungalow?

Italiangreyhound · 31/07/2022 16:45

Look up leveretts in urban dictionary. I would avoid!

I'd go for Red Kite Lodge/House.

Ariela · 31/07/2022 16:45

I don't know if there are any Hindu speakers here, but I know bungalow comes from their word for a single storey house, wondering what they call a 2 storey house and whether that might work?
