Moving somewhere greener.

I’m currently living and working in Bexley. I stayed in the area when my relationship broke down because of DCs education. Although I was itching to move out of the area it didn’t seem fair on the DC at the time. My youngest is going in to her last year at six form so next summer I will be free from the ball and chain that is keeping me in the area. Youngest DC will be off to Uni. The pandemic has changed work life also. Our new normal means we will be going in to the office one day per week. Our hours are fairly flexible so will be able to commute outside the rush hour.

The DC and I are horse mad and they will be home for the holidays and some weekends. Would be lovely to live near the sea or somewhere surrounded by farm land. (working farms not posh conversions). A year sounds like a long time but it isn’t really so I will be using most of my annual leave this summer giving the house a lick of paint and generally sprucing the place up as well as going on days out to see where I can go. Definitely won’t be needing schools, local public transport, shopping centres etc.. was thinking anywhere between the outskirts of Maidstone , Canterbury or perhaps a little further towards Thanet. It would be lovely to hear some experiences from others who have moved away from the London suburbs. I’m really exited about the move but finding deciding where to look a little tricky.

Any tips greatly appreciated.

South Oxfordshire for further afield?

I moved to Wiltshire. It has everything you want plus a fast train to Paddington for the one day a week. I loved it.

Beautiful horse mad areas include Tetbury and Cirencester in the Cotswolds. Train from kemble station. Cirencester also has the agricultural college and I’m told a strong 6th form college
