Moving to somerset_ poldens

Hi were a fam of two adults and two dds, nearly 2 and 5.

Staying with family in north newton as we look to find our own rural property for 550k budget nearby ish with good links to motorway for when I need to go in to office occasionally for work.

We have explored and love the ridge of villages along the poldens. We love moorlinch but before we seriously think of putting an offer on a house there. Any alarming reason to avoid that area?

My mil talks down of that area, preferring the Quantock which are lovely but much more pricey and not as well connected.

Schools a factor, and again Catcott looks like a nice school, with st crispin seemingly good secondary ( need to check catchment...). And if we can ever stretch to it Millfield as an independent option too ( but that would be a stretch unless grandparents feeling generous!)

We are outdoor types, love to garden ( been growing our veg before it was really cool) and like long walks with dogs sO a buzzing vibrant upmarket coffee shop type location not necessary, but countryside, piece and quiet is quite imp.

Any Opinions would be so good to hear from you! I wish I knew more people or the area better so really hopeful of any feedback on here’ thank you

Moorlinch? A fabulous and quiet village; I'm biased as I lived there for 18 years. Yes, I had many happy years there.

At the time, people were very friendly and it's only 4 miles from Street and 10-ish from Bridgwater, but has a very rural feel. I have memories of seeing Bridgwater carnival float lights all the way across Sedgmoor! Great walks too pretty much everywhere.

Ashcott School's in the catchment - no complaints about that school whatsoever. Street has a great secondary school and tertiary college.

Ring o' Bells pub is the place to be!!

I hope you succeed in your offer and, if you are successful, you will be very happy there. :-)

Thank you, that was just the impression we got of the village. Great to hear it from someone whose lived there for so long. Thank you again.

I assume you know this already but when considering where to buy make very sure you're at no risk of flooding or being cut off by floods etc. I think Moorlinch itself is fine but you're right next to areas which can be badly affected...something to bear in mind.

Also bear in mind that if Glasto ever kicks off again the traffic along there can get a bit manic!
