Depends which village to be honest

NalaTilly · 30/06/2019 08:03

It's a village called Aldborough

We went on holiday there last year! There was absolutely no mobile or data coverage Shock Lovely but a bit of a nightmare. We spent a long time pacing around on the village green trying to get signal. Not sure on broadband though as we only had data.

NalaTilly · 30/06/2019 08:09

Do you mind me asking what provider you have please I am with O2 & couldn't get any service in the house

Our company use ee having switched from O2 because of coverage, however a lot of north Norfolk is still a dead zone even with signal booster boxes... I believe sky and tescos use the O2 network so will also be poor...

If you're very lucky, you might get a genuine local on here who can tell you what villagers use. Some ILs aren't that far away, but different village might as we'll be a different world!

FWIW We never call them on their mobile , and when staying find that coverage in their village is patchy and in their house poor.

Broadband was OK, via phone line, and they had a BT all inclusive package (as they use phone so much they wanted calls included)

Thank you for your reply's it's very hard we love everything about moving there but am very worried as my work is from home

I live a couple of miles away but kids go to school there. Aldborough is a great village 🙂 Mobile signal is totally crap (rural North Norfolk has a lot of dead zones) but broadband is good there. I know lots of people who live there and run businesses on line.

I can’t get mobile signal at home either so we use WiFi calling with our broadband.

TheOnlyAletheia · 30/06/2019 08:33

In relation to the commute, we usually drive to Norwich (40 mins) park at the station. Trains are reasonably ok ish.

Alternatively, drive to North Walsham or Cromer (20mins) but connection at Norwich is pants and infrequent.

Theworldisfullofgs · 30/06/2019 08:43

I live in rural Cambridgeshire. Not the same I know but mobile signal can be a bit iffy. We have a signal booster for the house.

AnonymousP · 30/06/2019 08:45

We are both with O2 and really struggled to get a signal or data coverage anywhere in the village. It is lovely though!

PinkSpring · 30/06/2019 08:50

We aren't quite as far out as Aldborough but as others have said, lots of North Norfolk has no mobile signal.

We are closer to Norwich than you would be and mobile signal here still isn't great, I use O2 which seems to be better than EE who I was with before.

When we first moved here broadband was poor, but it all got upgraded within two years so we now get fibre.

NalaTilly · 30/06/2019 09:36

Thanks again for all your reply's I'm glad the internet seems ok there I thought we would have problems with mobile signal have ordered a few different provider sims to take with us on our next visit to see if any would work for us @TheOnlyAletheia I have an 8year old who will hopefully go to the village school there too do you mind me asking what it is like ? It looks a lovely school Smile

@NalaTilly absolutely great school. Progressive and produces happy confident well rounded kids. They value individuals. It’s a great environment for them. Lots of community activities with the village and the school. Friendly etc

TheOnlyAletheia · 30/06/2019 09:47

@PinkSpring - ooh yes the excitement of fibre 😂

NalaTilly · 30/06/2019 10:15

@TheOnlyAletheia thank you that is nice to hear 😊 it's very reassuring that the school is good especially from someone who has children there I'm sure my son will love it
