neighbour/friend suddenly unhappy about new outbuilding currently under construction

our neighbour/friend has known about and supported our plans to build a new outbuilding for cows for a long time. They supported the idea and even said that we shouldn't have any problem with planing permission as the other local farmer is always putting up massive buildings and no one ever objects to the planning permission when the option is available to them.
The new building is quite large but no bigger than the other outbuilding next to it. The foundations are in and the steel started to be erected recently and now this is an ominous half complaint. Requesting to be shown around where the building site is so that they can judge if it is going to impact them as they did not realise the size of the building when it previously, excitedly, being discussed.
The building is not next door to them, it actually couldn't get much further away without being on the other property border. There are 4 buildings between their border and the new building actually.

If worse came to worse and they really complained and got a little hot headed about it, is there anything they can legally do to stop the building or even worse, make it be taken down after construction? I am sure it won't come to that, but you never know these days.
Its all above board, permission was sought and approved after being in the paper etc. But am concerned due to previous little 'problems' that have been blown out of proportion. We are based in Ireland which might make a difference to what laws are in place.

If they didn't object at the planning stage there is fuck all they can do. They've got no business kicking off now, and it won't get them anywhere if they do.
