Hello, I really hope someone can help, I'm in a quandary!
I currently live in London, but have just taken a job in Swindon.
I want to live in the countryside and have found a beautiful cottage in Shrivenham, Malmesbury.
The commute is 35-40mins (without traffic), but that includes a stretch of M4. I shouldn't need to be commuting during rush hour, however, I'm concerned that I'll spend my life sat in a jam on the M4!!
Does anyone do a similar commute? Any advice welcome, thank you.

That bit of the M4 is nothing like as busy as the London to Slough/Maidenhead section, so shouldn't be too bad for a commute. I used to go J10 or 12 to J 17 or 18 for a commute (going the other way) admittedly a few years ago now -at the time it was a change from J10 to Watford or Guildford previously, and it's always worse east of Newbury going the other way. However, I'd look to leaving a bit earlier and taking a country drive via Malmesbury, Brinksworth etc on the days you know will not be fun (radio says delays) for a change.
