Hi all, first post here!
I did a bit of searching here as we have been looking to buy our first home and as parents to a lovely little daughter (nearly 1!) and another little girl on the way (Jan '18) we need to get out of our cramped and severely overpriced Central London renting situation!
We have been looking around Kent, having gone to viewings in Deal, Dover, Folkestone and surrounding areas. We then found out about the new build developments under the Help to Buy scheme in Aylesham, called Aylesham Village.
The new builds look great (well, the show room does....obviously!) and it would be affordable for us. I was a little concerned about the area though. As it is an ex-mining village that unfortunately hasn't improved very much when looking at the market square area. There is a new small Coop supermarket, health centre, and they are rebuilding the Primary School (all with help from the new developers) the rest seemed very abandoned with some not so great looking takeaways (fish and chips and a chinese) and a small cafe.
The place obviously connects easily into Canterbury which is lovely as we all know but I'm just wondering whether this would be a mistake, going for a brand new help to buy place in a more remote place but having the space, or going for another area altogether.
Any locals have any advice with the new developments going up, etc?
Many thanks!
