Hi I'm new to this site but really need help as relocating to devon with work and have 2 children aged 6 and 8! I have choices to make as to where to live in devon and wondering if anyone out there can recommend nice areas to bring children up with good schools! I am wanting a family type area with things to do with the children as well as start a new social life myself! I've no idea where to set up 'home' just wanting ideas as I go in 3 weeks!!! (Ouch)!!
I'm travelling to devon next week to look around but wondering if there are areas I need to avoid .. Many thanks

hello Tillyanna

We moved to Devon form Kent about 3 years ago now. We weren't sure which area we wanted to be in so we rented for 6 months in Kingsteignton (near to Newton Abbot) so we would have more time to decide where we wanted to settle.
Kingsteignton was nice with easy access to Exeter. We now live on the outskirts of Newton Abbot (the other side to Kingsteignton) I we really like it here.
We are close to the A38 which is perfect for the other half with work.

I'd say to look at any of the villages/towns that are just off the A38 for easy commuting like Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot, Chudleigh, Ashburton. Or if you liked to be the other side of Exeter than Exmouth is nice or even Exeter itself.

Hope you manage to find somewhere Smile

Check you're on a bus route. Then check that the bus route actually has buses on it. (Mother of teenagers and full time taxi driver!)
