Ideas for a special retirement gift for dad with hearing loss

My dad is retiring late september. Unfortunatley his hearing is now all gone and the 1% left is really sensitive to different sounds and tones. He struggles going to the pub due to the noise levels and you have to speak to him face to face so more than 2 people he cant cope with let alone their pitch of their voice. Eg he is ok with my husband as his voice travels just enough for him to hear but mine and mums voice he struggles with our pitch

On top of this he has arthritis in his hips and left foot so walking is extremely difficault.

He hardly leaves the house, hardly sees anyone. Its so upsetting. Traveling on a plane he cant cope with and my mum wont travel abroad via the tunnel drive or train due to being caustraophic and fear of drowning.

Any ideas what we can get him as i really wanted to do something special for him?

I was thinking of a group of us paying for a football private box so he can still watch a game but the noise will be limited but i dont know if thag would be ok? Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated

A private box at the football sounds lovely.

Depending on the club he might have to still go outside of the box to watch the match albeit on his own balcony. Just check the set up. This would be an amazing gift x

That's a lovely idea. Speak to his club and explain, they sometimes have disability advisors that can help you plan his day and even pull a few strings.

I think the football box idea sounds great and I agree with LancashireButterPie, I’m sure the club would have access advisers to help him get the most from attending.

Another idea, has he ever tried using really good quality noise cancelling headphones to listen to music. An elderly relative used our Bose headphones and cried with joy because she could hear some favourite music which she thought she would never hear again.
