I like reading about the hobbies and interests MNetters have in retirement and am curious how spouses/spend their time.

Might help inspire DH 😊

He's just taken up Reformer Pilates. Learning guitar, writing a novel just to see if he can.

Annual pass for the Light Cinema - goes most weeks
Golf, gym, dog walking, sudoku, arranging travel, house admin etc, duolingo, still seems to have a lot of time to sit around!

Cheersminesalargeone · 04/03/2026 17:55

Sadly not housework unless prompted

GOODCAT · 04/03/2026 20:12

DIY, going out for coffee, using his bus pass, cycling and walking.

DustyMaiden · 04/03/2026 20:20

Playing the guitar.

Mydogisagentleman · 04/03/2026 20:22

Tragically, Croquet.
Not whacking balls around a rough garden.
Competitive Croquet.

Pretty much the same as before.
Computer programming, walking, gym, quizzes, reading history books. Absolutely nothing social or that interacts with other humans.

Engineeredit · 04/03/2026 20:27

Chess and scrabble at tournament level. Used to play competitive croquet. ( It’s great fun actually)

SundayBells · 04/03/2026 20:32

Sea swimming, magnet fishing, goes to gigs with his friends, decorating and woodwork, gardening, volunteering with a local litter picking group, hill walking, drawing, reading, visiting galleries and museums and travelling. A lot of the time we do these things together.

FedUpandFiftyNine · 04/03/2026 20:34

Family tree/history research
Tinkering with cars
Film club with male friends
Driving cars
Bit of DIY
Bit of gardening
Washing cars

Not enough to get him out of the house IMHO!!

thenightsky · 04/03/2026 20:35

Same as before, but more of it. Gym 3 times a week, karate training and teaching 3 times a week and lots of walking, which he's discovered it helps his painful knees.

LornaDuh · 04/03/2026 20:59

Thanks for replies.

Tragically, Croquet

😂

That would be a good title for a murder mystery novel.

Film club with male friends

Oh I fancy something similar. Do they go to the cinema or meet in each other's houses?

Finishing all the house renovation jobs that he never got around to when he was working, sudoko over coffee, walking the dogs, talking to other dog walkers, and sneaking off to play Call of Duty in what was his home office when he thinks I’m not looking 😋
