Currently working a couple of days a week in a supermarket bringing in about £500 a month which is what I need to top up savings etc until my state pension kicks in in 5 years. The issue I have is that it can still be quite restricting as I only have so many holidays. I would love a work from home job or something I could do whilst travelling. I have no qualifications apart from a basic education. I'm sure I'm asking for the holy grail but wondered if anyone can suggest anything that would suit.

What does flex look like for you, really? Able to take off at a whim? What are your skills?

Exam invigilating means you only work a few months a year, mainly May / June but also a bit in November / February / April, depending on the school. Leaving plenty of time to travel! It is boring and pretty much NMW though but might be worth it for your requirements.

Temp agencies? You could work a couple of weeks here and there and the off for a few months

What about Royal Mail? They employ temp workers via anguard. Look on the Royal Mail jobs website, I think it’s fairly flexible once you’ve done a few weeks

At the moment my shifts are on a 3 week rota so if I want specific time off I have to use holidays. I would love to do some road trips maybe one a year for 3-4 weeks but obviously couldn't do that in my current job.

Any recommendations on which agencies to use.

I've recently retired ( 61) and have got myself a zero hours job driving OAPs to lunch clubs, hospital appointments etc.
I get offered shifts one week in advance and accept them if I've not got anything else planned. I plan on doing about 15-20 hours a week, Monday-Friday only.
I will add that you may have to do training to drive minibuses etc., and in some cases (but not all) transport wheelchair users. Not all vehicles are minibuses, but it does give you more scope. I get £13.85 per hour, so just above NMW, but it does give me flexibility to work when I want.

Do you have any teaching or training qualifications?
I've just had training and my licence to run speed awareness courses. It's classed as a self employed role so totally flexible in what sessions you teach. Obviously there's no holiday or sick pay.

Im doing it to top up my pension. Happy to answer any other questions if you'd be interested.
