Last ever half term in school

This term is 7 weeks long and I'll be working 27 school days as I only work a 4 day week. I'll then retire after 29 years of teaching (where have those years gone) on Thursday 17th July.

Very mixed feelings, excitement, apprehension but mostly relief. I just don't want to teach anymore, the love for the job has gone.

I'll miss some of my colleagues and some parts of the job but mostly I feel happy and ready for the next phase of my life.

Wow, that’s a long career! Well done you, for sticking with it. As a parent, who’s been through the education system 3 times, I really don’t know how you did it 💐🥂🍾

I recall your other posts. Wishing you health and happiness in retirement

Well done on your career and making the decision to retire. I’m sure you’ve given your all and once you feel you have no more to give the choice is obvious. Enjoy all the positives in the final half term and have a fab retirement - it could open up all manner of possibilities for you.

onwards!

Congratulations on your count-down!

29 years is brilliant. Thank you for your dedication and efforts 👌

This week has been so hard. It's so tricky to keep myself motivated. I had PPA yesterday and planning was monotonous. But I'll keep going.

Thanks for everyone's kind words.

In a similar position. 35 years here, four weeks to go.
Really questioning if I can make it…🤞🏻

Good luck BG2015 - I’ve seen a few of your posts on here in recent months about your retirement!

Education certainly isn’t what it was back in the 90s - well done for sticking it out for so long! What have you got planned for retirement? Travelling?

Ive got an interview lined up for speed awareness online training which is very flexible. We’ve already got a cruise booked and 4 weeks in Thailand next year.
