Just that really....

How much/what % of your income is everyone saving for retirement?

Just thought it would be interesting to learn what everyone else is going?

Currently anything I earn over the tax threshold.

BirdieInTheHand · 09/03/2019 08:42

14% goes into pension
15% general savings
25% longer term investments

I'm very fortunate and it hasn't always been like this

Basilneedswaterandsun · 09/03/2019 08:44

6% of my gross annual
Read something this morning which made me want to up it

NeedAUsernameGenerator · 09/03/2019 08:45

Not very much at the moment (£100 a month) but I've got a pot of £100k built up from when i had a better paid job. Am 37 and it's 100% equities so I'm hoping it will be a good amount by the time I'm 58. DH has a slightly larger pension fund and we also have S&S ISAs.

MissConductUS · 09/03/2019 08:50

17% of my salary and my employer contributes an additional 7.5%. This is into a private, tax favored 403(b) plan, in addition to Social Security, the federal government pension scheme.

We're going all out as we're not that far from retirement. We also have one in uni and another who will start in the fall of 2020. Shock

NotStayingIn · 09/03/2019 08:53

20% of my annual yearly salary plus
10% put in by my employer

It’s a lot but I realised I needed to really up it for a while to make up for times when I didn’t put in. Will only do this till I’ve caught up again.

Mumphineasandferbmadea · 09/03/2019 08:53

£50 a month taken from my wages. I have no other savings.

NotStayingIn · 09/03/2019 08:54

Annual yearly salary?? I’ve clearly not had coffee yet!

Decormad38 · 09/03/2019 08:54

I should know this but Ive just paid in to the nhs pension now university pension scheme. I don’t worry too much as they are both the best schemes. Will probably retire about 62 and take what it gives me. Probably will have a pension chat with an advisor in a couple of year time though.

CarolinaChina · 19/05/2019 23:14

I put 10% into a pension and my employer matches it. DH has slightly different arrangement with him 6% and employer 12%. For the past year or so we’ve been putting away c25% of take-home pay. We hope to retire in 2023.
