Is it worth seeing a financial advisor for help re financial arrangements as well as a solicitor?

Depends how complicated your finances are, I reckon. If you've just got the standard mortgage, one/two incomes, a pension each, maybe an ISA or two and some credit card debts, there doesn't seem much point. If one of you owns a business, overseas investments, anything non-standard or hard to value, then you call the experts in. But then I'm neither a solicitor or a financial advisor, just a divorcee!

Sometimes I advise clients to see an IFA if, for example, they have a choice of taking an endowment policy as part of their settlement in exchange for a lower share of the husband's pension. I'm obv. not qualified to give financial advice so like to cover my back. Otherwise the client may take the policy, its value could plummet while the value of the pension stays steady.
