When someone starts acting different

I was looking for some advice on my girlfriend and I know she used to use this site I dont know if she still does but I wanted female point of view on this. I am worried because she has started acting different all of a sudden like when we first met she told me she wasnt houseproud and she never used to do much housework just the essentials and that was ok with me and she was like that for 2 years and even her family told me shes always been like that. All of a sudden though she changed and whenever I can in from work the house was spotless, she cleaned cupboards out, tidied up, kept everything perfect which just seemed so unusual why would she suddenly change her ways? She has started wearing perfume all the time which she never used to do and makeup and she is trying to lose weight and doing well with that and Im pleased fr her but Im paranoid and wondering why shes suddenly changing.

Well, I wouldn't automatically jump to there being sinister reasons for her change.

I go through phases of really taking care of myself, feeling better about my appearance and everything else then follows suit, my house will be cleaner than usual, the washes out and dry instead of sitting in the hamper etc..

She could just be giving herself a mental make-over which will have a positive effect on the rest of her life.

Has her behaviour changed towards you?

Diablo74 · 27/05/2010 10:58

yes she lost her sex drive for a long time and never wanted to have sex but now she wants to almost every time I instigate it which is most nights and she has become more affectionate and keeps hugging me and kissing me which is very very unlike her because even she has admitted that shes not a warm cuddly type of person and Ive never known her be like that.

Maybe she's bored. Maybe she's got OCD. Maybe she found mouse droppings in the kitchen and decided it was time to change her ways. Maybe she's heard voices that have told her to do this. Who knows? Does it matter? Have you asked her?

However, I suspect you're waiting for someone to say 'she must be having an affair'.

I don't know her or anything about her so I have no idea why she's changed. People do change though for all sorts of reasons and not necessarily because they're having it away with the milkman.

do you think maybe one of her friends has said something to her?

had you become distant before she changed?

Diablo74 · 27/05/2010 11:04

But why is it all of a sudden? shes also started buying new clothes like she paid £30 for a coat yesterday which again is really unlike her because she never spends money. She is really really obsessed with keeping her finances sorted and saves constantly but she's not put anything into her savings for about 2 months, even drew some out and I know shes been applying for credit cards and store cards which is wierd because she hates debt and credit.

TALK TO HER!

nickelbabe · 27/05/2010 11:05

some of these are a sign of depression (as in bipolar)

you really should talk to her, find out what's going on in her mind.

Egwene · 27/05/2010 12:59

Maybe she has grown up? Maybe she is broody?

ItsGraceAgain · 27/05/2010 13:14

Since all the changes you've listed are POSITIVE ones, it seems quite likely she's embarked on a self-improvement programme. Or, perhaps, got medication for some depression? Talk to her about it - in a nice way!

I would sound a note of caution, though, if she doesn't see the changes in herself. Making changes of your own volition is one, admirable, thing - "becoming" changed, without any deliberation, can be a symptom of all sorts of worrying things.

Good luck!
Oh, make sure you do a share of housework, too, or you'll soon be hearing about it
