Letter rack in hall full of unopened bank statements, dp been keeping me a bit short lately, so opened them all up together with credit card statements and realised they are all from last year. (don't tidy up letter rack very often)!

Also thinking about it, haven't seen a wage slip or mobile phone bill of his lying around anywhere.

This is not like him, he is a bloody slob.

Fuck fuck fuck fuck, im fucked aren't I?

He's got me into so much debt, I can't afford to chuck him out at least for another 6 months.

Sorry if this sounds cold, head spinning!

Why is he so unreachable that you can't phone him? I'd be phoning my husband at work about something like this.
We both see all bank statements etc. I couldn't live with someone and not trust them or be able to see our finances. Mind you I'd be wary of a bloke with a poor credit rating. Blokes aren't usually that spendthrift, or maybe it's just the blokes I fancy who hate shopping and hoard money unless it's for gadgets in which case the gadget is extremely visible and played with constantly! (We do discuss expensive gadgets however)

I rather do it face to face rebecca, this could spell the end of our relationship and I don't think a phone call is the way to do it.

I'm quite geeky

Try this:

When you're on a website, just go to the top line and click on TOOLS. Go to ONTERNET OPTIONS. Go to SETTINGS under Temporary Internet Files. Click on VIEW FILES.

These are all the cookies and past pages browsed. Only a true IT Pro can erase this.

The shortcut on my PC looks like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\staff\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

You can also get there if you click on START, Control Panel, Internet Options.

Also good:

Click TOOLS again, then INTERNET OPTIONS, then in the top line click on CONTENT. Choose Auto Complete. It will keep whatever he types in and suggest it to you next time you google something or enter an email address, etc.

Good luck.

BaggyAgy · 05/05/2010 20:40

Kitty,
Can you please tell me how to find the cookies on a mac?
Can you make your reply understandable to those who are not really computer literate please?

AnyFucker · 05/05/2010 20:52

kitty, I don't understand your post

it is easy to delete your temporary internet files, so the "view files" tab is wiped

you don't have to be an IT pro to do that

am I missing something ?

ItsGraceAgain · 05/05/2010 20:52

BA, is this what you need?

How are you?

kittyonthebeam · 06/05/2010 12:14

Hi all,

sorry about the confusion, I got carried away to nerdland

First of all:

Switch on your PC. Click on www. When the window opens, on your very top you have a grey line with the words:

File Edit View Favourites Tools Help

Click on TOOLS. A grey tab comes down. In that tab click on INTERNET OPTIONS. Go to SETTINGS under Temporary Internet Files. Click on VIEW FILES.

These files are different from just the HISTORY. They contain COOKIES and Files. He may have wiped the history but maybe not deleted the cookies IYSWIM.

AF: There is a cache of the cookies which never fully goes, even if you 'delete' them. Much like pictures are still there, even if you delete them on a camera. I haven't looked at how to get there in a while but I will check an revert. Like me fiddle around with it and come back to you.

Auto Complete is handy to know what he may have typed in, search words, email addresses, names, etc.

--

To make sure his files and history is not automatically wiped you can (in that grey tab) RESET WEB SETTINGS. Just declick the Home Page resetting box so this will be left as it was and he won't notice.

Do I make more sense? I hope I do. Need to hop, my dd's waking up. Will check in later.

kittyonthebeam · 06/05/2010 12:22

Anny, when you on the MAC, can you open a webpage with Safari? On the top line, just under the internet address to the very left of it you'll see a symbol that looks like an open book. Click on it and you can check out the HISTORY.

We just got a MAC actually last week so I'm still finding my way around it. I shall update you if and when I find more nifty things on it.

AnyFucker · 06/05/2010 12:52

thanks kitty, I didn't mean to be critical

it is extremely kind of you to take the time to try and help someone x

HappyWoman · 06/05/2010 13:01

on a mac you can easily hide your history - however i think you can look up the cookies by clicking on the systems preferences box. There is a priviacy button for 'private browsing', which he may well have used and it is harder to check on the history then. I clear my history from time to time.
I had to reset mine the other day to be able to order online at tesco!
