And damn it feels good!

So many friends/ family have come out to help and support me, they all knew what was happening (some just suspected)

I haven't felt so safe in a long long time.

Thankyou for helping on various threads, sorry I have namechanged again, just want to be careful.

Just want to add another well done. It has obviously been very hard for you, and you are very brave to have taken that final step.

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 23/04/2010 06:36

I'm really pleased for you, Change.

I too selfishly want to know who you are, so I can cross you off my mental list of MNetters I Worry About In The Wee Hours, but that's about me not you. You do what you need to do to stay safe.

And WELL DONE.

Babieseverywhere · 23/04/2010 07:00

Well done and enjoy your new house & life

mathanxiety · 23/04/2010 19:33

Are you noticing how you can stand up straight and breathe now?

posieparker · 23/04/2010 19:38

Wonderful, Brilliant....made my day!

Welcome to your new life!

BleachedWhale · 23/04/2010 19:45

Well done. No need to feel 'ashamed' that it took a few years, it's harder to leave an abusive relationship than a healthy one, because of the way the abuser takes away your confidence and independence.

Don't give any details here that could identify you. If there are things still to be sorted out it's best that he doesn't have access to your thoghts and the advice that you are getting.

Good luck - be pleased with yourself and strong.

caramelwaffle · 25/04/2010 00:13

Well done, you!

maristella · 25/04/2010 17:51

another well done from me
what you've done took courage. you've done the hardest bit. yes, he might still try to hurt you, but get a good solicitor and let them deal with him.
i hope your fresh start brings you the freedom and happiness you deserve

elliemental · 25/04/2010 17:54

Well done and good luck. it is such a huge step to make, but it is the first step towards freedom and happy and fullfilling life

ChangeOverTheHorizon · 26/04/2010 15:47

Just a quick update - all is going well

He is away with work so I am at our flat getting things together with a friend.

I am loving the excitement and feeling of freedom!

Good for you. I bet you feel a weight has lifted.

It takes a lot of courage to do what you're doing, but you will be happy again.

Supercherry · 26/04/2010 20:47

Well done. Wishing you happiness and strength. Be proud of yourself.
